APM™ and Valley Forge Medical Center and Hospital
My partner (and wife) Ellen and I just finished an exciting training at our first East Coast Addiction-Free Pain Management® (APM) Center of Excellence. The focus of this trip was to skill train the staff on Denial Management Counseling for Effective Pain Management as well as working with them to start meeting the APM™ Center of Excellence Criteria (COE).
Valley Forge has been using my APM™ system for several years now and has recently decided that they want to move to the next level in providing exceptional pain management services for their patients who suffer from chronic pain and coexisting disorders including addiction. They already have an exceptional treatment team that includes medical, mental health and addiction professionals. This is crucial with this population as the new research reports that the most effective treatment requires a multidisciplinary treatment team. They now have a provisional APM™ COE Designation and will have full certification by June 2009.
The APM™ Center of Excellence Objectives
To complete a comprehensive review of each applicant to assure that they meet our APM™ Center of Excellence Criteria. This includes a review of policy, procedure, program design, and documentation.
To provide In-service training and consultation to help the potential APM™ Center of Excellence to identify and correct deficiencies in meeting the Centers of Excellence Criteria.
To establish an ongoing collaborative relationship between Dr. Grinstead and the Gorski-CENAPS® Corporation and the APM™ Center of Excellence in order to:
- Ensure the comprehensive utilization of the APM™ System of Treatment
- Help our partners implement applied research studies that evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the APM™ System of Treatment.
- To assist our partners to design and field test new adaptations of the APM™ System that can improve the delivery of treatment services.
