Dr. Grinstead Explains Why Family and Friends Are Crucial in Chronic Pain Management

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Today I want to talk about the impact on family members and significant others who have to bear witness to the person living with chronic pain. I’ve seen many families disrupted and marriages end due to mismanaged or poorly managed chronic pain conditions. Sometimes family members and significant others develop their own healthcare problems while trying to help someone they love cope with chronic pain.

This month we decided to dedicate our efforts to bring this topic up and help educate family members and friends who are desperately seeking help for themselves and their loved ones in this month’s Chronic Pain Solutions E-Newsletter that you can sign up for on our Contact Page by clicking here and registering your name and email—then you will need to respond to the acceptance link in an email you will be sent.

Dr. Stephen Grinstead interviews Amber: A Person Effectively Managing Her Chronic Pain

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

I want to share with you a recent interview I conducted with Amber at the 38th Annual Winter Symposium in Colorado Springs. Amber discusses how she was living with serious chronic pain and her doctor kept medicating her with extremely strong opiate medications to the point she was bedridden.

She shares how after going through a chronic pain management treatment program at Valley Forge Medical Center she now had less pain and learned new ways of living with her chronic pain condition.  In my new book Freedom from Suffering: A Journey of Hope I share more on how to develop effective chronic pain management and achieve freedom from suffering.
