Dr. Grinstead Discusses Collaborative Treatment for Effective Chronic Pain Management and Freedom from Suffering

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Today I want to talk about using collaboration not competition as well as utilizing a multidisciplinary approach when working with people living with chronic pain and coexisting disorders including addiction.  I believe it is imperative for pain management physicians to work hand-in-hand with other healthcare disciplines and the patients themselves in order to provide the best treatment outcomes for this population.

In a video I reference a report in the online US News and World Report covering a study posted in the May 2009 Journal of the American Medical Association that states that collaborative care helps ease chronic pain that validates his position.

Hope Is Crucial For Freedom from Suffering & Effective Chronic Pain Management

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Today I want to share that I believe that HOPE is a very crucial ingredient in the recipe for effective chronic pain management.  It’s not only the person living with chronic pain that needs this hope but also the friends and family members.  In my new book Freedom from Suffering: A Journey of Hope I share more on how to include family and friends in developing an effective chronic pain management plan and achieving freedom from suffering for everyone.

Unfortunately, what is often not discussed is the impact on family members and significant others who have to bear witness to the person living with chronic pain. I’ve seen many families disrupted and marriages end due to mismanaged or poorly managed chronic pain conditions. Sometimes family members and significant others develop their own healthcare problems while trying to help someone they love cope with chronic pain.

Dr. Grinstead Explains Why Family and Friends Are Crucial in Chronic Pain Management

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Today I want to talk about the impact on family members and significant others who have to bear witness to the person living with chronic pain. I’ve seen many families disrupted and marriages end due to mismanaged or poorly managed chronic pain conditions. Sometimes family members and significant others develop their own healthcare problems while trying to help someone they love cope with chronic pain.

This month we decided to dedicate our efforts to bring this topic up and help educate family members and friends who are desperately seeking help for themselves and their loved ones in this month’s Chronic Pain Solutions E-Newsletter that you can sign up for on our Contact Page by clicking here and registering your name and email—then you will need to respond to the acceptance link in an email you will be sent.
